How do you open crates? Keys, /crates and the Crate Court

Five crates, five keys. Where keys come from, what is inside a crate, and how to open one from the /crates menu or at the Crate Court, with screenshots.

Crates give money, Seals, card and potion draws, spawner parts and sometimes a whole spawner. In this post we cover where keys come from, how to see what is inside a crate, and the two places where you open one.

Five crates

Supply Crate, Iron Crate, Vote Crate, Gold Crate and Diamond Crate. Each has its own key. Keys are real items in your inventory and bound to you: nobody else can use them, they cannot be traded and they do not drop when you die.

Where do keys come from?

• Supply: battles won for the first time, key fragments collected in battle.
• Iron: the Daily Quest Chest (all five quests of the day), first wins of some battles, rank-ups.
• Gold: the Weekly Quest Chest, finishing a round, rank-ups.
• Diamond: rarely from the Gold Crate, day 25 of the vote calendar.
• Vote: server list votes (/vote, three a day). Not sold in the store.

All keys but the Vote key are in the store too. Keys won in battle wait on your account first; they arrive in your inventory when you go to the survival side.

Step 1: look inside a crate (/crates)

1. Type /crates (or /kasa), or click "🔑 Crates" in /ekonomi.
2. The five crates sit side by side on row 2. Hover one to see: - how many keys you have, - every reward it can give and its chance, - pity protection: within how many openings a spawner reward is guaranteed.

Step 2a: open from the /crates menu

• Left click: opens 1 key.
• Right click: opens all your keys for that crate (up to 64 at a time).

The reward is given at once, shown in big letters on screen, and chat lists it with the keys you have left.

Step 2b: open at the Crate Court (animated)

1. Type /warp crates. You land on the court in the north-east of the spawn island.
2. Walk up to the crate you want. Having its key in your inventory is enough; you do not need to hold it.
3. Right click: opens 1 key. Rewards spin above the crate and stop on one.
4. Sneak (shift) + right click: opens all your keys for that crate; the rewards pour out in a spiral around it.
5. Left click: does not open the crate; it opens the /crates menu instead, so you never spend a key by accident.

When a crate opens, the reward is written in the middle of the screen.

The reward reaches your account before the animation starts, so nothing is lost even if you disconnect.

The Vote Crate

Vote Crate keys only come from server list votes: type /vote and the sites' links appear in chat; one vote per site per day, one key per vote. Certain days of the month also give calendar rewards.

Tips

• Every 50 crate openings (all crates together) give a milestone reward of Seals.
• Save the spawner parts you get; when you have enough, turn them into a whole spawner with /spawner combine. Details: the Spawner guide.
• Crates do not open in the battle world; open them at spawn or in survival.
• Rare big rewards (whole spawners, valuable keys) are announced to the server.
