Arena PvP and Classic PvP: the difference between /pvp and /arena

In Minestones PvP you fight ghosts with your own arena character in leagues, with nothing to lose. In Classic PvP it is real Minecraft combat: whoever dies drops their items.

Typing /pvp gives you two choices: Minestones PvP (an arena character, leagues, you never lose anything) and Classic Minecraft PvP (real combat with your own survival items, whoever dies drops them). The two are completely separate.

Minestones PvP (/pvp)

You have an arena character separate from your survival items. It is made of the arena gear you put in its 9 slots: you start with helmet, chestplate, leggings, boots and weapon; the shield, charm and two ring slots open as your rank goes up. Your rank also caps the level, rarity and enchantment level of your gear.

  • Gear comes in six rarities: Common, Uncommon, Rare, Epic, Legendary, Mythic. Each piece has fixed and random stats (health, armour, damage, critical, life steal, dodge, thorns…). The total of what you wear is your Power.
  • The XP Forge makes gear; it costs Minecraft XP levels (the first draw is free). Forge Tickets from battle wins give draws without spending XP. The XP your spawners make flows here too.
  • Upgrade a piece (+1 level), enchant it, reforge its stats or salvage what you do not need (it turns into Smith's Dust).
  • Fights: you see five opponents close to your Power and fight a ghost copy of the one you pick, with their skin and gear (they may be offline). The controls are real Minecraft: walk, jump, hit, raise your shield; the plugin works out the damage.
  • A loss takes nothing away. 4 league fights a day give points and Battle Stars, after that it is training. Stars compete in daily leagues of 15 and in a weekly ranking; rewards are Seals and XP. You spend your stars in the Star Shop.
  • Friendly duel: challenge someone with /pvp challenge <player> or by clicking their name in chat. If they accept, you really fight each other with your arena gear; if they decline or do not answer, you fight their ghost. Nothing is won or lost in this duel.

League standings are on the site's Leaderboards page.

Classic Minecraft PvP (/arena)

Real Minecraft combat: vanilla damage, your own survival items. /arena or /warp arena takes you to the safe lobby of a colosseum in its own world. The moment you walk through the gate into the arena, PvP is on.

  • Whoever dies drops their items and XP, and the killer collects them. Crate keys, spawners and bound items do not drop.
  • Whoever hits or is hit by a player counts as in combat for a short while: they cannot escape to the lobby or use /spawn or /home, and if they log out they die and drop their items.
  • Kills in a row make a streak; big streaks and the players who end them are announced. Kills give no money or Seals.
  • Your statistics: /arena stats.

Duels with items

Send someone an offer with /arena duel <player>; they accept by pressing [ITEM FIGHT] in chat and confirming once more, or decline. If they accept, you are both teleported to a closed duel pit with your own inventories; during the countdown either of you can still back out with /arena forfeit and nobody loses anything.

Careful: in a duel the loser loses all their items. Whoever dies drops everything, the winner collects for a short while, and whatever is left goes to the winner's inventory. Think twice before you bring your best gear. If time runs out it is a draw and nobody loses anything. Once the fight has started, giving up with /arena forfeit counts as dying.

You can offer a duel from anywhere in survival; no commands work during a duel.
